First Doctor's Appointment

Mom's first time driving Sydney to her first doctor's appointment. We are doing great, already starting to gain weight! She will be out of Newborn clothes by the end of next week if we keep this up!

More Stimuli, including very large furry things licking my toes!

Ok, Mommy and Daddy brought me home today and I had so many new things to see! First stop: the large furry stuffed animals (THAT MOVE!) Abby and Ace. Daddy had to hold Abby (the darker one) to keep her from licking my face off but she was just so excited to see me. Ace patiently waited his turn. Ok Ace, let's talk! Nice to meet you. He even started to reach out his left paw to shake my hand.
Then they started licking my toes! Stop it you two! That tickles!!! :)))
I got so excited I think Ace was able to smell my present I left for Mommy in my diaper.
So, Mommy took me up stairs and did my first diaper change in my nursery. It is really pretty with lots of purple and green.
All done! Time to go back down to see my new toys and play!
My Grandpa Brown and Pop put my "pack-n-play" together for me to stay in downstairs.
This is me chillin' in my new swing. It swings me and plays music to stimulate my baby brain.

We're Home!

The grandparents had the house all ready for us with of course the standard "it's a girl" sign.

First Car Ride

Oh wow, what's this. It looks good. I think I'll put it in my mouth! Yea, mmmf mmmp, mmmt!!!

The car ride home was great for Mel & Sydney. She slept the whole way. I, on the other hand, was very stressed, drove very slowly, palms sweating, and stared down every driver that even looked like they might get too close.

Going Home Today!

The first manicure from Mommy (no polish of course). First of many to come, I am sure. Pop held her steady, of course.

We are being discharged today (we think)! Melinda is a little bit anemic and has a low platlet count which they are rechecking. I can't imagine that would keep us here. I send younger and sicker people home in worse shape all the time after heart surgery and the body does the rest. She looks really good as many of you have pointed out. Sydney and I have decided that we are going home no matter what. We'll be happy to visit Mommy in the hospital if needed.

"What do you mean we are leaving? Where are you taking me now? Home? No, no, no thanks; I'm good here. You two go ahead. I'll just nap right here."

Day One and Counting

Sydney's nurse Lori was great to us. So very helpful, she went the extra mile to make sure we were comfortable and well informed. Thank you so much. You deserve a raise!!Day one: make sure she fits appropriately in the car seat. Check! Either she is being swallowed up by the car seat or she is posing for her first Glammer shot. Look at that pout!"Gentlemen, we can rebuild her. We have the technology.....We have the capability to make the worlds first bionic baby......Better, stronger, faster." ----- The Six-Million Dollar Baby coming soon to the WB. (Hearing test; required by law......she passed with flying colors)

The Grandparents

Grandmother Holden ("Na" pronounced neigh); Sydney has been scratching her face with her nails. The onezy (sp?) with hand covers are great but she misses putting her fingers in her mouth.
Grandma Brown. Sydney looks so peaceful.

Hiccups!

Well for all of you who know Mel, you know that she has a case of the "chronic hiccups" and in some circles they are considered contagious (Ginger!). Well Sydney has them tonight and while the medical mind in me knows that this is just the usual hiccups that babies get with initial feeding, the superstitious person in me wonders if there are forces at work that I don't understand. I'll just try to burp them out of her for the time being.

The Dirty Diaper

I have changed diapers before and while I don't remember them being pleasant experiences this one happened to be fun. Sydney also seem to have a good time as well, playing tricks on daddy. Each time we got her clean here comes the face. That satisfaction face and another black bubble appears. In the end I got it done and think I did a pretty good job of getting that diaper on.

The First Meals

Nothing like a Chick-fil-A to bring down the milk! No wonder Daddy has gained the 20 lbs during the pregnancy.

Your both doing great. Keep on trying!!

And Baby Makes Three!!!!

Sydney Grace Holden born 2/23/09 at 3:40PM, 8lbs, 20.25inches, APGARS perfect x2 with the lungs of an opera singer. Look at that mouth and imagine how loud she was and multiple by 5.

Ten long toes and ten long fingers like her Mom. She's beautiful.
Jenna and Katie taking such good care of Sydney. Thank you both so very much!

Oh so sweet. I have my parents wrapped around my fingers already. Pouty lips like I've never seen.

Mom and baby are doing great! So is Dad who happily cut the cord. Have I told you how beautiful she is?The new family!!Grandparents on both sides are so proud. Grandma and Grandpa Brown are so very proud.
As are grandparents Holden, Pop and Na!
Welcome to the world baby Sydney. We are so proud you are here and can't wait to get you home!
